Jeffrey Rideout

Senior Vice President, Care & Cost Management; Chief Medical Officer, The TriZetto Group

Dr. Rideout is currently SVP, Care and Cost Management, and Chief Medical Officer for The TriZetto Group. Dr. Rideout leads the development and delivery of a comprehensive suite of products and services that enable payers and other constituents to improve the cost and quality of care for consumers. This includes strategic planning for new clinical products and services, and related merger and acquisition activities. He currently represents TriZetto on the boards of the Pacific Business Group on Health and the Integrated Healthcare Association. Previously Dr. Rideout was the global leader of the healthcare division for Cisco Systems Internet Business Solutions Group, and Cisco’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Rideout worked with health care and public sector leaders to help them use technology to accelerate transformation of the health care industry, and also provided strategic leadership for health benefit value purchasing decisions for Cisco’s 65,000 employees and dependents worldwide, representing Cisco on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Business Group on Health. While at Cisco, Dr. Rideout also served as a member of the American Health Information Community (AHIC’s) Chronic Care Workgroup for the US Department of Health and Human Services and was a member of the National Quality Forum Task Force for Personal Health Records executive briefing series. Previously, Dr. Rideout was Chief Medical Officer and SVP for Blue Shield of California and head of Quality Management for Blue Cross of California. Dr. Rideout served as a member of the National Advisory Council for the Robert Wood Johnson/IHI Pursuing Perfection grant program for excellence in health care delivery, and also served as the Chief Medical Officer for the National Health Care Purchasing Institute, supporting the Institute’s $8.8 million Rewarding Results grant program jointly underwritten by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the California Health Care Foundation. Dr. Rideout has also supported numerous venture backed companies and venture capital firms in board, advisory and management roles. Dr. Rideout is a volunteer physician and Board of Directors member for Medical Teams International, an international medical relief organization. Dr. Rideout is also a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco, Stanford University and the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, teaching on topics related to healthcare technology, services and innovation. Dr. Rideout is a board certified internist, completing his residency training at University of California, San Francisco, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his undergraduate degree from Stanford University. He also holds a master’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
