President, Aetna National Accounts and Senior Vice President of Markets

A demonstrated leader with diverse healthcare experience, Jonathan Mayhew has a long history of building and growing businesses to serve the unique needs in the marketplace. He currently leads the National Accounts and Markets businesses at Aetna. As head of Aetna’s National Accounts and Markets businesses, Jonathan has full profit and loss and operating responsibility for businesses that deliver innovative, customer-focused benefits solutions for large, middle market, small group employers as well as Medicare beneficiaries in local markets across the country. Collectively, these businesses account for 17 million medical members nationwide. Most recently, Jonathan led National Accounts, overseeing sales, network and medical management for 7 million medical members throughout North America.

Prior to joining Aetna, Jonathan was a founding principal of Freedom Disability, where he served as CEO and president. He successfully raised capital while building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, investors and partners. He created a high-performing, metrics-driven culture, expanding sales and growing the business into one of the largest disability advocacy firms in the country. Earlier in his career, Jonathan served as general manager and president for some of Aetna’s largest markets, including Pennsylvania and Southern California. He then became regional president for the Northeast markets. In both of these roles, Jonathan was responsible for sales, account management, network management, provider relations and service operations. Jonathan also held senior leadership roles at Cigna, where he served as senior vice president of Product, Marketing and Strategy for the enterprise and president of the Northeast Region.
